The next generation of problem solvers and builders.

Ad Astra’s mission is to foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking in the next generation of problem solvers and builders.

Ad Astra’s approach to education is centered around hands-on, project-based learning, where children are encouraged to explore, experiment, and discover solutions to real-world problems. Ad Astra offers a progressive learning environment that emphasizes the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) into its curriculum.

Currently open to all children ages 3 - 9.

To the stars.

Ad Astra is dedicated to nurturing the innate curiosity of children, cultivating their creativity and honing their critical thinking skills. Ad Astra’s curriculum is supported by modern scientific research to promote advanced executive functions in children.

  • We tailor learning experiences to each child’s unique needs, pace, and interests. By allowing children to explore topics deeply and at their own rhythm, it fosters a love for learning and encourages intrinsic motivation. This approach nurtures self-confidence, independence, and a strong sense of autonomy, empowering children to take ownership of their education and pursue their passions with enthusiasm.

  • In our carefully sequenced, activity-based curriculum, children explore STEM concepts through hands-on learning materials, allowing them to problem-solve and develop essential skills at their own pace. This unique approach prepares children for, and ultimately mastery of, reading, writing and mathematics.

  • We offer long, uninterrupted work periods that allow children to fully engage in tasks that they have chosen for themselves under the careful, individual guidance of their teachers.

This gives children repeated opportunities to get fully engrossed in their activities and experience regular states of concentrated focus. As adults, it is hard to focus when we know we will be interrupted soon; the same goes for children. Unstructured, child-led time is key in building concentration skills, which lie at the heart of all learning.

  • We emphasize the holistic development of children, focusing on not only academic skills but also social, emotional, and practical life skills. Through hands-on, experiential learning activities, children develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills essential for success in the modern world. Additionally, our emphasis on grace, courtesy, and respect cultivates empathy, compassion, and a deep sense of community, fostering well-rounded individuals who are capable of making positive contributions to society.

  • We organize our classrooms into multi-age groupings. This builds a strong, family-like community with lasting relationships between child and teacher as well as friendships between children of different ages. Young children look up to and learn from older ones, while the older children gain confidence as they become classroom leaders and mentors to their younger peers.

  • We instill a lifelong love of learning by nurturing curiosity, creativity, and a sense of wonder in children. Through a rich, interdisciplinary curriculum and an environment that encourages exploration and discovery, children develop a deep appreciation for the beauty and complexity of the world around them. This passion for learning extends beyond the classroom, driving children to pursue knowledge and growth throughout their lives, thus equipping them with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.

We are excited to announce that Ad Astra will be open in the fall. We are now accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year. Currently open to all children ages 3 - 9.
